These dynamic services provide the property owner a more sustainable way to help prevent trees, shrubs & lawns from declining & developing health problems.

Some issues may be a tree dying from the top, leaves turning color or dropping early. This is most likely a root or vascular problem which can be corrected most of the time if action is taken early enough.

Compacted soil is bad for trees because of the lack of oxygen needed for the roots. Girdling root or "root bound" occurs when a root does not radiate outward due to compaction, obstructions, or over-mulching. The root grows across the trunk, flare, and chokes the tree to death. Most of the time, the root goes unseen because it is below the soil surface. Compacted soils occur from heavy foot traffic & mechanical activity.

Exposed soil under a tree is not ideal. The soil should be covered with a layer of natural mulch or other organic matter, like a "forest floor." This layer conserves soil moisture, moderates soil temperature, protects soil structure & allows for vital decomposition within the root zone.

Soils that are compacted. Deficient in nutrients, moisture, organic matter & beneficial microbes can lead to early tree death. These can be reintroduced or alleviated within the root zone using specialized equipment such as a vehicle-mounted soil injection unit ( VMSIU ) & pneumatic tools like AIR SPADE.

When a tree requires further action toward a pest problem, an NYSDEC certified applicator with eco/pet-friendly products is available and on staff. The application methods are usually systemic, meaning the material is either absorbed or injected into the trunk. These treatments are safe & effective.

Trees have immune systems. If healthy, they can usually defend themselves against invaders, but success in defense is less likely if the tree is stressed.
